SCHOOL SETTLEMENT ASSOCIATION The oldest settlement house in Brooklyn, School Settlement Association has a long and established history of serving youth and families in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. “The Sett” and St. Nicks formally entered a strategic alliance in 2005 in order to combine their respective knowledge bases, organizational networks, and resources to expand and improve services to the community. The alliance includes overlaps in fundraising leadership, program development, and staff training based on mutual organizational agreement. To facilitate the alliance, St. Nicks’ executive director serves on the board of directors. For information about School Settlement after-school and summer programs, please refer to Our Programs. "The Sett" also operates a Teen Night Program, open gym for middle and high school students to have a safe place to spend their evenings which runs October through April, Monday to Thursday from 6:30 - 9:00pm. For the general public, the Sett also offers Rental Opportunities to host birthday parties, baby showers or other events. At the current time, “The Sett” is undergoing a major capital campaign to renovate its building located at the corner of Jackson Street and Manhattan Avenue. Built in 1914, the three-story limestone building is home to “The Sett” and the School Settlement Home Attendant Agency.
